There will be at least one resurrection on Easter Sunday, 2010, when Blood Axis unveils its latest work, Born Again. The 2nd full-length studio album in the group's 20-yr history, Born Again signals startling developments & radical maturation. Over the course of the 12 tracks that comprise Born Again, Blood Axis explores an epic yet human universe in which gods are summoned, kingdoms rise, riddles unlocked, love is lost, and worlds crumble. Underpinning the album & propelling much of the music is the traditional Irish drum the bodhrán. Moynihan's ominous voice is well matched by Annabel Lee's elfin intonations, just as her violin finds a perfect counterpoint in Robert Ferbrache's protean guitar parts. Guest musicians add tasteful embellishments. Expressive lyrics have roots in ancient & modern poetry, archaic invocations, and tragic laments. Alongside modern English & German, songs are sung in medieval 10th-century Old English & 13th-century German. The end result is unforgettable.
