Busta Rhymes & Nas. In 1991 the world was introduced to Brooklyn's own Trevor Smith. Busta Rhymes, as he came to be known, always had a dynamic personality and an outlandish style. As the son of famed jazz musician Olu Dara, Nas's musical creativity began at an early age. Nas, whose given name Nasir means "helper and protector," started showcasing his talents in the late '80s - early '90s.
